From Twente With Love
From Twente With Love was a temporary audiovisual art installation for the Amsterdam Light Festival 2016-2017. It was designed and built by a collaboration of a student team consisting of six students (including me), and artist Randy van Lingen. The project was initiated by the Twentse Ambassade.
The structure represented a giant wave flowing from the canal below over the street, where visitors of the festival walked by. The wave was covered with a voronoi mesh of LEDs, which represented how nature is used more and more as inspiration in technology: biomimicry. Visitors could interact with the artwork by placing their hand on a beam, sending their "love" over the wave to the water side of the wave. On that side, three faces designed by Randy van Lingen expressed this love in the form of blow kisses towards visitors in boats on the canal and across the canal.
We went through the complete design process of the artwork, from concept to realisation, in three months. My main responsibility were the electronics and software controlling the artwork.
